NEW WHEELS FOR THE CANCER INFORMATION SERVICE

The Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Service, has a new vehicle to help on its travels to reach people with questions about cancer.

The white van, newly decorated with an eye catching design generously provided by Express Signs, York, will become a familiar sight on the streets of Pickering, ferrying Macmillan Information Nurses, Nicola Cox and Lynne Thomas around the town.

Lynne and Nicola who run the Cancer Information Service for NHS North Yorkshire and York Community and Mental Health Services, said: ‘We are really thrilled with our new vehicle. It has arrived just at the right time. The Service is very busy and the van’s extra storage means that we are able to carry more information to our locally held drop in sessions’.

This service offers people affected by cancer in any way, good quality, comprehensive and appropriate information and support. It’s completely free, confidential and anyone is welcome to come along without an appointment.

The service can help if you:

  • Require information about cancer

  • Have a cancer diagnosis

  • Are looking to reduce risks of cancer

  • Have survived cancer

  • Are a carer or relative of someone with cancer

  • Are Health Care Professionals

The service visits Pickering Library and Information Centre on The Ropery from 10.30am – 12.30pm on the 1st and 3rd  Tuesday of each month.
