Now in its 11th year, PAC continues to offer weekly athletics coaching to youngsters aged between 9-18yrs. The coaching team consists of experienced UKA registered coaches who aim to introduce children to the fundamental movement skills related to running, jumping and throwing. Once these skills are acquired, the athlete then moves on to more event-specific development.

The 2011 outdoor season was a successful one for PAC. The club affiliated with Scarborough AC, so enabling Pickering-based athletes to compete in the national Young Athletes League. The contribution made by PAC athletes meant that SAC was second overall in their league, a truly impressive result for clubs which do not have access to a formal athletics training track. Athletes also competed in a number of open competitions during the summer, including the Ingram’s League at York.

With the 2012 Olympics drawing nearer, it is hoped that more local youngsters will want to get involved in the sport.
