New Walking Group

A new walking group has been formed in Pickering. It is called WHITE ROSE WALKS and the aim is to interest everybody, particularly newcomers, in the many and varied walks around the Pickering area.
The walks which will be held mainly on Thursdays, will be around 5 miles long and take place between 10am and 3pm, enabling parents to walk whilst their children are in school and to be back before school ends. There will be longer walks of 6 to 10 miles at weekends. Many of the walks will be led by a number of local people who will demonstrate their favourite routes and places of interest along the way.
The aim is for these walks to be very relaxed and easy going, with no rules or regulations and no charges (except for use of transport). Whether you are a slow or fast walker, young or old, male or female, does not matter as the emphasis will be on pure enjoyment of the natural world.
Everyone is welcome (including dogs) and the first walk will be on Thursday 4th December – a 5 mile circular walk meeting at Keld Head, Pickering at 10.30am. Following this there is a walk in Dalby Forest on Thursday 11th December, meeting at The Ropery at 10.30am.
A full programme of future walks is available from the Tourist Information Centre, Pickering, or on any of the walks.
Further information can be obtained from the Beacon

A Walkers’ Social Evening has been planned for Friday 19th December at 7pm, at the Memorial Hall, Pickering, with a speaker, slides and buffet. Tickets are £5 and can be purchased on any of the walks, or by phone, as above.
Everyone is welcome, whether or not you are a walker.
