Malton Winers & Diners Plus

This is a relatively new group in the Ryedale area having commenced its activities in March of this year. Its aims are to promote friendship and enjoyment for all members. The aims are met by having regular meetings, at The Old Lodge Hotel in Malton, for all members to provide ideas and suggestions for future activities – the members set the programme.
The title might give the impression that only Maltonites may join. Not true: there are already members from Pickering and we hope that there will be many more.
Again the group’s title may give a clue to the events that are arranged. Certainly we like to eat well and we have done so in quite a number of local hostelries. In addition outings have been arranged to walk York’s snickleways, theatre going to the Stephen Joseph Theatre to see “Haunting Julia”, “Snake in the Grass” and “Life and Beth”. Other theatre visits have been to York Theatre Royal to see “Three Men In a Boat” and to the National Railway Museum to see a truly unique production of “The Railway Children”. Other activities have included walks and a ride to Whitby on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.
Every effort is made to keep the cost of each event to the minimum and car sharing is much encouraged. Over the period of the group’s existence we have tried to carry on whatever the weather has thrown at us - and what a lot there has been.
There is no membership fee and new members are always welcome. So come and join us. Who knows in no time you could be leading an event involving your favourite activity. Contact Pat Davis at pat.malton@btinternet.com
