Community Spirit

During the thirty five years that I have lived in Pickering, I have been to part of and enjoyed its friendly and caring community activities, two of which recently I feel should not go unnoticed.
After only one appeal a large band of citizens voluntarily spend their Saturday morning litter-picking after their not-so-caring neighbours.
The second was a safari supper organized by members of the parish church to raise funds for the restoration of their ancient pipe organ. The phenomenal response from the people of all ages and all walks of life prove my point There is a massive amount of voluntary work helping to knit this community together. Why not join it and make new friends, if only for one hour a week and keep this a town and community of which to be proud.
