EDITORIAL

Well, as we are into our summer issue of the Beacon, there are mixed feelings towards the weather – Some people want the sun to continue, whilst gardeners and farmers are wanting rain! (By the time you are reading this issue, we may well be wondering where the sun has gone!)

The local election, has seen some ‘new faces’ arrive on Pickering Town Council, whilst a few former councillors have departed. All the relevant information about the council is in their quarterly Newsletter and their Annual Report - both in this issue.

Whilst we are getting regular reports and updates from many of our clubs, societies and local organisations, there are still quite a few that we never hear from!

The Beacon is here to help you publicise your club or society events that take place in the local Pickering area.

The Memorial Hall belongs to the  people of Pickering, and whilst many are using the excellent facilities there, it could be the venue for your event or party! The hire price for residents is very reasonable, so why not call in and see what your Hall has to offer you? It’s your hall, why not use it? The office is open 9am to 12 noon each weekday.
