After what seemed like the longest winter in my entire life (and I have lived through more than a few!), the spring seems to be rushing by even as I write! By the time you read this, the Society will have staged our spring show, Mr Cinders, hopefully to full houses and rave reviews! If you missed it, bad luck and watch out for next year’s!

Dare I mention Autumn, now that we are only in April (at the time of writing this)? I think I shall have to steel myself and bite the bullet. An apt metaphor, as our next show will be the wartime review. As always, our director will be Maureen Symonds and she already has the show planned and is ready to start rehearsals in July! This year it is entitled “All Our Tomorrows” and as always will be nostalgic, funny, sad and very entertaining.

We can use some more members at The Kirk Theatre, so if you are interested in joining us, watch the showcase outside the theatre for the rehearsal start date or ring our membership secretary, Jane Sampson on 01751 477355. I always urge the people of Pickering to consider joining us, but so few of you take up the challenge! So go on, break the habit of a lifetime and give us a go!

Once again the theatre will be holding an open day on September 10th during the heritage weekend. We were delighted to welcome a good crowd last year and with the lure of lovely home made cakes on offer to go with a cup of tea or coffee, who could resist? Make it a date in your diary.

Enough of my thespian ramblings! Time to go out and enjoy that sunshine and the lovely long evenings. Have a great summer!

Linda Tester, Publicity Manager, Pickering Musical Society.
