Ryedale Counselling Service (RCS) is pleased to announce that it has been given a grant of £2,500 by Awards for All (part of the Big Lottery Fund) to set up a website for the service.

The aim of the new website is to:

  • Raise awareness about mental health issues across Ryedale and Scarborough

  • Provide information about counselling and make available a range of self-help

  • leaflets such as anxiety, bereavement and panic attacks, which have been produced with the support of the Big Lottery Fund on the website

  • Sign-post clients to other professional sources of information, advice and support

  • Facilitate client self-referrals via a contact form on the website

  • [longer-term] Enable RCS to provide an online counselling service.

RCS aims to launch the website by 1st October 2011 and to be able to offer online counselling from the beginning of 2012.

About RCS

RCS provides a brief, generic counselling service to people, aged 13 and over, in Malton and at five GP surgeries across Ryedale and Scarborough. RCS also provides longer-term counselling for adults who have experienced child sexual abuse. In addition, RCS provides brief counselling at the Castle Health Centre in York Place, Scarborough.

RCS already has a website for children and young people: www.rite2talk.org.uk made possible by a generous donation from North Yorkshire County Council. RCS recently set-up a website for the adult counselling service: www.ryedalecounselling.co.uk  but this free (to RCS) website has limited applications and does not allow for online counselling.
