Beck Isle Museum News

It has been a busy time at Beck Isle, displays have been changed, artefacts polished and we have now been open since the 15th of March.

The education room, which previously was only open to school parties, is now open seven days a week (unless there is a school party in).  This means that anyone can visit the room as they tour the   Museum and look at the different artefacts and read the books. There is everything from old school desks and canes to possers and washboards.

We are having a visit from Kyle Sokel from Canada who is the Great-Grandson of Sidney Smith. He is coming to see his relatives photography work.

Once again we shall be having work experience students from Lady Lumley’s School. It is good to be working with the young people, knowing that they are  taking an interest in their local history.

Our forthcoming events are as follows:

As I have said previously, volunteers keep Beck Isle Museum open, we always have a warm welcome for anyone who would like to consider becoming a volunteer.  For more information you can contact the Museum on 01751 473653 or call in for an application form.
