Ryedale Walking Group

The snow and bad weather over the winter prevented the group from carrying out much walking although a few intrepid members walked through snow and ice at Hutton Le Hole in December before returning for their annual Christmas meal in Wrelton.

In January a new committee was elected and work is currently underway to produce the next quarter walk programme. There is also a new website address:

www.Ryedalewalkinggroup.btck.com where information on the group and their walks can be found.

Town Guided Walks

Do you like telling stories and meeting residents and visitors? Why not train alongside the existing Pickering Town Guides. Presently we each lead about 5 walks during the summer, but with more guides we could offer more times and a variety of walks.

The Monday guided walks this year start on Easter Monday and finish at the end of October. Walks start at 10.30 from the Tourist Information Centre. The walks last for an hour and half and are a mile and a half.

If you have always intended to do the walk to Newbridge, this year you can book a slightly longer walk with Walkers Welcome in April or at Heritage Weekend  8 - 11 September.

If you would like to book a walk at another time for your group of at least 5 people which could be the heritage town centre walk, a walk linking the water mills, round the railway station, Pickering pubs or the country walk to Newbridge taking in quarries and limekilns, contact the Tourist Information Centre. 01751 473791.

DALBY FOREST DISCOVERY PASS

For unlimited entry to the forest all year round for your vehicle, why not purchase a Dalby Forest Discovery Pass. The cost £42.00 for the year and includes discounts for Go Ape, Purple Mountain Cycle Hire, Ability Outdoors, Forestry Commission Shop, Tree Tops Restaurant and many other National benefits. Passes can be purchased from the Visitor Centre on site or at www.forestry.gov.uk/pass
