In spite of a severe weather, the first signs of spring are already appearing in our gardens. We are welcoming back members of the congregation who have had difficulty in attending church and it is good to see them again. Our Gift Day Service was held on February 20th, when the Rev. Harold Dixon took the service. There are three more meetings of open house to be held in the spring: Thursday March 17th at 2.30pm. Mark Sissons will be speaking about the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Thursday April 14th at 2.30pm. The subject will be Alzheimer's disease. Thursday May 19th at 2.30pm. Pickering Recreation Ground its visitors and its future. These meetings are interesting and informative and are followed by informal discussion over tea or coffee. Everyone is welcome. Lent services and lunches begin on Monday March 14th at 12.00 noon here at the U.R.C. Christian Aid Service to be held on Sunday May 15th at 6.00pm at the U.R.C. A special service is to be held on the first Sunday in June. This is to mark the 50th anniversary of the Rev. Max Moore’s ordination. The service will be held in the afternoon. There will be no Morning Service on that Sunday. This will be a very happy occasion and future details will be announced later. Anne Redfearn.
