Well, what a panto season that was! The snow and ice played havoc with our rehearsal schedule. Cast members living in Pickering struggled to get to the theatre some nights so those coming from the outlying areas had no chance! However, despite nature doing her worst, the show went on and was another success. Thanks to all who came and supported us. In the nature of the theatre, one show closes and another one looms on the horizon! Our spring show this year is “Mr Cinders”. This is the Cinderella story, but with the main character being Jim, a young man who is the poor relation of Lord and Lady Lancaster and their two sons. Jim is treated as a menial and the two sons (the ugly sister equivalent) are promoted by their mother as being the most desirable chaps in town. Set in the early part of the 20th century, the story follows the trials and triumphs of good (personified by Jim) over evil (personified by his unloving family). It may sound a bit confusing, but come along and see the show and you will see that it is a great piece of entertainment! Well, you would expect nothing less from The Kirk Theatre would you? More details about the show nearer the time, but for the moment, please note the production dates, which are 9th – 14th May 2011. In the meantime, please don’t forget that we always welcome new members to the Society – in whatever capacity. Our Membership Secretary Jane Sampson will be happy to hear from you. Enjoy the coming spring and hope to see you at the theatre soon! Linda Tester, Publicity Manager. |
