Community Leisure News |
Pickering is lucky to have leisure facilities for us all to enjoy. Young and old people should try to make being active part of everyday life. Ryedale Pool is much lighter and brighter since its refurbishment last year and offers a selection of sessions and lessons to suit all ages and abilities.
During the summer Lady Lumley’s School and Northern Ryedale Leisure Centre saw the transformation of seven tennis courts which were renovated and are now available for community use. The courts are available for hire each evening and weekend. Please contact the Leisure Centre for more information.
The Autumn term at the Leisure Centre also sees the start of many other activities: for adults these include; badminton, yoga, judo and the ‘Fit Zone’ fitness suite. Coaching for children includes cricket, badminton, trampolining, basketball and art attack classes.
Depending on your level of activity there is something for everyone.
RDC are running a new youth gym project ‘Gym 4 You’. The main aim of which is to encourage young people between the ages of 12 and 16 to participate in more exercise. Certain fitness suites in the area are involved in the project including NRLC. Any young people interested should contact the leisure centre.
Joining a club or a class is a great way to be active and meet people. There are many other clubs and activities available in our community to use and enjoy; so if you like walking, yoga, or perhaps something more active such as going to the gym, we have fantastic facilities in Pickering to help us all keep fit and healthy.
