After a typical British summer we are now all busily working towards our third woodland festival, ‘Wild About Wood’ which is being held over the weekend of September 10-11. If you came last year you know how good it was and this year promises to be bigger and better. More details of the event can be found on our website, just follow the link at the end of this article. As well as finding out details of the event you can see images from last year’s festival (who knows you might even spot yourself), you can also purchase your tickets online and save money.

Autumn is always a special time in the Arboretum, some trees start to change colour in early September and since there is such a variety of trees in the collection there is constant change all the way to the end of November. As well as the trees, autumn is a great time to see many varieties of fungi – in 2008 well over 100 different varieties were identified by Malcolm Greaves – not all visible to the naked eye though. To help people discover and identify fungi Malcolm will be leading two ‘Fungi Forays’ on Saturday October 15th and Wednesday October 26th. For more details go to our website and click on ‘Events’

Our café is open every day to the end of November and is the perfect place for refreshments after a walk or even just to sit and admire the arboretum as you enjoy fresh, homemade food.
