Pickering’s Newly Formed Youth Council

A new council has been set up in the town called "Pickering Town Youth Council", the council's objective is to give Pickering's young people, between the ages of 11 to 18, a voice in the Town; suggesting ways in which to improve the town or any other matters about which young people have concerns.

Also, the Youth Council is getting involved in organizing some activities for young people. So far our council has hosted a cinema evening at “Atmosphere”, the youth centre in Pickering, where they showed “Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince” and earlier this year, the Youth Council staged a Youth Art Exhibition at the Memorial Hall, which was a great success!

We are organizing two exciting events in the autumn. The first is “Pickering Youth’s Got Talent.” This is a talent competition open to people aged between 11-18 in Pickering and the  surrounding areas. If you have a talent you want to share, please come along to the first audition, which takes place at “Atmosphere” on Wednesday 2nd November 2011 at 6:30pm.

We are also hosting another cinema evening, which takes place on Saturday 8th October 2011, once again at Atmosphere. Details of which film will be shown and other details will be available very soon and advertised around town.

We now have our own E-mail address, so, if you are between eleven and eighteen and live in the Pickering area and would like to contact us with any concerns or ideas or, better still, would like to join the Youth Council, please contact us on: mailto:ptyc123@gmail.com
